This tour will take you to Belém district passing by some of the charismatic quarters of the city where façades in pastel colours and ceramic tiles coexist side by side with modern architecture.

It was from Belém that the navigator Vasco da Gama departed to discover the sea way to India back in the XV century. With it’s gardens and promenades near the river it is nowadyas one of the favorite leisure areas for the locals. Here we can admire the façades of the two most significant examples of the architecture of that period in Portugal: the Jeronimo’s Monastery and the Belém Tower as well as the views over the Tagus estuary. The Monument to the Discoveries from 1960 is on the riverbank to remind us of that rich period of portuguese history.

Before returning to the hotel there is still time to taste the famous Pastéis de Belém, a true delicacy.
